Tiruchi, Dec 22, 2011: The Tiruchi Corporation has decided to privatise maintenance of drainage channels and sanitation works at the Central and Chathram bus stand and Gandhi Market in the city in view of the shortage of sanitary workers in the civic body.

It is one of 200 technologies produced by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) identified as for-sale via the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
New Delhi, Jan 12, 2012: Justifying its decision to trifurcate the MCD, the Delhi government today said the move was necessitated as the civic body's functioning had become "worst" when it came to sanitation and maintenance of roads. Urban Development Minister A K Walia told the Assembly that the trifurcation will bring governance closer to people, better supervision and direction from the controlling officers with enhanced political and administrative responsiveness and accountability.

San Diego, Jan 10, 2012: PCI (Project Concern International) announced today it has received a $15 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for its Project Parivartan (the Hindi word for "transformation"), to improve key family health and sanitation behaviors in the state of Bihar in northern India. The grant is an investment by the Gates Foundation in a region of India and among the most marginalized populations - the neglected castes of the Mahadalits - that until recently have been largely ignored.

In an affidavit placed before the Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday, municipal corporation (MC) revealed the status of implementation of detailed project report prepared for stoppage of waste into N-choe.

The draft document of the Comprehensive Health Plan for the district for the next five years, an initiative spearheaded by the Health Department and the National Rural Health Mission, in coordination with various other government departments, local self governments and agencies, was released by Health Minister Adoor Prakash here on Wednesday.
The first copy of the draft plan was handed over to district panchayat president Remani P. Nair.
