A Joint Mission promoting improved Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH) arrived in Liberia yesterday to begin a weeklong visit during which the critical need for sanitation and water for all Liberians will be highlighted. While in Liberia, the Joint Mission will bring together international and national WASH stakeholders to collaborate and participate in a series of discussions, workshops and field visits, culminating in a meeting with the President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who currently serves as Goodwill Ambassador for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in Africa.
A weeklong conference that will bring together WASH stakeholders including the private sector, civil society and development partners, will convene at the SKD Sports Complex from April 27th to May 4th. The Ministry of Planning and Economic Affairs, which is the coordinating agency of Government to ensure the effective implementation of WASH initiatives in the country, will chair the conference.
