I am Yusuf Kabir, working with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Kolkata, in the Water and Environmental Sanitation Department. I am involved in demonstrating and scaling up of Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) under the Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) in rural West Bengal, in partnership with panchayats, the West Bengal State Rural Development Department and several NGOs.
Ghana is turning to India to procure equipment worth USD 10 million to tackle mounting waste and poor sanitary conditions in its capital Accra and other urban areas.
The case study titled “Practicing zero waste management in Vellore, Tamil Nadu” has been written P Amudha in India Infrastructure Report, published in 2007 by United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). It presents Exnora Green Cross, supported by UNICEF, initiated a pilot project on solid waste management in a ward of Vellore municipality in 2000.
