Guwahati, April 24, 2012: For implementation of the Total Sanitation Campaign in Assam, National Coordinator of New Delhi’s Sulabh International Social Service, Rupal Roy, met Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi yesterday.
Roy briefed the Chief Minister as to how this sanitation programme should be carried on in the State. The Total Sanitation Campaign is a comprehensive programme to ensure sanitation facilities in rural areas with broader goal to eradicate the practice of open defecation.
Guwahati, April 8, 2012: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today launched the ‘Clean School, Clean Guwahati’ campaign at Cotton Collegiate HS School in Guwahati.
As part of this campaign, the three cleanest schools in the city will be rewarded and action will be taken against those schools which perform poorly so far as the cleanliness quotient is concerned. As schools compete with each other to emerge as the cleanest schools in the city, the district administration hopes that this campaign would create environmental awareness among school students.
Guwahati, March 30, 2012: The overall condition of Assam’s households has improved according to the census data on housing, household amenities and Assets Census, 2011 released but the state still has a lot of catching up to do on the power and sanitation fronts. 
Assam, Mar 9, 2012: Multilateral agency Asian Development Bank (ADB) will extend $81-million loan to Assam under a An agreement to this effect was signed between ADB and the Assam government today, an official statement said.
Guwahati, Feb 12, 2012: The Union Ministry for Rural Development will put more emphasis on Pure Drinking Water and Total Sanitation Programme so that the vision and objective of Nirmal Gram can truly be achieved in Assam.
This was stated by Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh in his speech on the occasion of Gramonnayan Sammelan, organised by the Ministry of Panchayat and Rural Development, Assam, at Gauhati Medical College Auditorium.
