Municipal corporation Chandigarh plans new system to save water

Chandigarh, June 25, 2012: In a bid to save water, the municipal corporation has asked its engineering wing to explore and introduce a double button flush system in all public toilets throughout the city. If successful, the model will be later be adopted in residential areas.


The development came following the fact that huge quantity of water goes waste while flushing the urinals to clean them.

‘Clean’ chit to 68 villages of Yamunanagar District in Chandigarh

Yamunanagar, Feb 27, 2012: Sixty-eight villages from total six blocks of the district have been declared ‘Nirmal Gram’ under the Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) for 2011-12. The campaign is an incentive scheme of the Centre named Nirmal Gram Puraskar (NGP). A ‘Nirmal Gram’ is an open defecation-free village where all houses, schools and anganwadis have toilets and people have awareness on the importance of maintaining personal and community hygiene and clean environment.
