Pre monsoon sanitation drive: Ensure quality of drinking water - Thiruvanthapuram CM

Thiruvanthapuram, April 27, 2012: Collective effort is needed for successful waste disposal as part of pre monsoon sanitation drive, said CM.  The quality of drinking water should also be ensured. He was presiding over the meeting to discuss the pre monsoon sanitation dive in the state.


CM said that state level meetings would be held to coordinate the pre monsoon drive on May 2. The meeting would be attended by Chief Secretary, other secretaries and officials. District level meetings will be held on May 5, 7 and 8.

E-toilet project in the Thiruvanthapuram awaits revamp

Thiruvananthapuram, April 16, 2012:  Eram Scientific Solutions based here has won the Sankalp Award instituted by the Sankalp Forum, 2012.


The company takes home a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh for innovation in creating the ‘Delight’ e-toilet, an automated public sanitation unit for the urban areas, a company spokesman announced here.

High school buildings to be renovated and sanitation awareness boards will be installed in Kochi

Kochi, March 30, 2012: The district panchayat budget passed on Thursday has allocated Rs.75 crore for renovation of high school buildings and Rs.5 crore for improving play grounds of schools and to set up a stadium.


The high school buildings will be renovated under a project for which Rs.100 crore-loan will be taken from HUDCO. These were some of the major projects in the budget for the education sector, for which Rs.7.27 crore had been earmarked for expenditure while another Rs.90.05 crore had been allocated for asset creation.

A train of ‘clean' thoughts in Thiruvanthapuram

Thiruvanthapuram, March 27, 2012: As many as 100 young people will undertake a 13-hour awareness drive for sanitation and waste management across the State by travelling on the Parasuram Express from here to Kasaragod on Tuesday.


At a function at the Press Club here on Monday, Speaker G. Karthikeyan flagged off the drive.


The campaigners will board the train at 6 a.m. from the Central Station here. They will distribute pamphlets to the passengers and those on the platforms en route and hold a quiz on waste management on board.

Rs.10-crore outlay for service sector in Thiruvanthapuram municipality; includes etoilets, centrally aided sanitation schemes

Thiruvanthapuram, March 27, 2012: With a slew of projects in education, health and social welfare, the service sector has emerged as the major thrust area in the Neyyattinkara municipality's annual budget, presented by vice-chairperson L.S. Sheela on Monday. An outlay of around Rs.10 crore has been earmarked for the sector in the budget which expects a revenue of Rs.66.06 crore and expenditure of Rs.64.51 crore.

e-toilets to be set up in Cherthala municipality, Kerala

Alappuzha, March 7, 2012: Cherthala municipal chairperson Jayalakshmi Anilkumar said that it was planning to install e-toilets in the municipality.


Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the municipal chairperson said that three e-toilets with a total estimate of Rs 15.75 lakh will be installed in three locations in the municipality.
