Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercise held across Nagaland

Dimapur, Apr 27, 2013: A Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercise was carried out in six villages across Nagaland aimed at data collection and analysis, to foster changes in the rural areas with regards to water and sanitation.
A press note informed that it was sponsored by the Water & Sanitation Support Organization, PHED, Nagaland under the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan. The PRA sessions were organized by the PHED (Rural Division) Dimapur.  It covered Kacharigaon, Padampukhuri, New Showuba, Naga United, Singrijan and Razhaphe villages under Chumukedima, Dhansiripar and Kuhuboto blocks respectively.
PRA is undertaken to collect data, identify resources and generate sustainable systems, to find remedies to problems and to serve as a reference to facilitate community envisioning and action planning. The PRA team was led by Er Mersen, Project Engineer, District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM); Imojungla Longkumer, Sanitation and Hygiene Consultant; Vibou Seyie, IEC consultant and other department officials.
