City sanitation plan in 41 towns of Madhya Pradesh state

Bhopal, Aug 7, 2013: Urban Sanitation Programme is being implemented as per survey of local conditions and cooperation of community in urban bodies of the state. In the first phase of the programme, 41 urban bodies are chalking out city sanitation plans.

Meanwhile, Sailana in Ratlam district and Gautampura in Indore district have become open area defecation-free towns.
Urban Administration Department has implemented Urban Sanitation Programme for sanitizing and beautification of towns since February 2009. So far, 20 thousand individual clean toilets have been constructed for poor families in urban areas. Besides, priority is also being given to construction of public toilets in urban areas.
